Debra Schurko

Janice Frye

Debra Schurko loves to create spaces that stimulate your senses, ignite your passions, and bring out the soul of who YOU are. Your home should be a sanctuary that adds to the quality of your life. Thoreau said it best. “It is something to be able to paint a picture, or carve a statue, so to make a few objects beautiful, but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest art.”

Debra believes that timeless design depends on the structural integrity of the space to be worked on, a redefinition of that space according to the client's needs and hopes, and finally, creative expression. This is the essential premise upon which her work is based.

Some of Debra's work has been the subject of positive press attention, including feature stories in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Journal of News & Arts, City Tab and the Butler Eagle.

Debra attended La Roche College in Pittsburgh, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She has taught Interior Design at the Community College of Allegheny County.
